Bob Lutz has indicated that the new Holden VE Ute will be heading to the States but...it won't be badged a Chevy. While the Chevy El Camino may not be reincarnated as a VE Ute, the VE Ute may feature in GM's line-up. Perhaps a Pontiac Sports Ute?

I can see some appeal to people of Hispanic origin. However, this has to be a price leader to succeed, adding a V-8 wont help either.

To blend in with the lo-life crowd and entertain yourself by studying this subculture. As for this particular vehicle, I'd rather see it with the GMC grille. I hate the Chevy bowtie logo. I think GM should modernize this logo.

My guess is that this vehicle would appeal to people (of any ethnic origin) who need a vehicle to carry a light load of cargo, but don't need an oversize truck to do the job. This vehicle could obviously have superior dynamic performance than any current pickup, which also offering vastly better fuel economy too. not too hard to figure out, really. I hope GM makes it, and other manufacturers follow suit.
