Infiniti considers GT-R based flagship, new MPV and small car

Infiniti is considering expanding its lineup with a new small car, a high-end coupe and possibly a MPV plus the introduction of smaller engines. Despite fuel prices heading northwards, the smallest engine in Infiniti’s range remains a 3.5L V6. However, it’s not just engines Infiniti has its hopes for the future pinned on.

Nissan’s global design chief Shiro Nakamura was looking towards “an expansion of the brand” itself, including the possible introduction of several new models that stray from Infiniti’s current market segment and image.

You're an idiot, the G and M are both amazing cars.
I'd take an M45 over a 540 any given day.

zorbeeze .. have you driven or looked at the new 2008 550 with a sports package? That is one awesome car. Also, disregard Benz.

I have and it hurts my eyes everytime I see it. But you and I know that the M45 Sport is the car to beat in its class.

i dont understand ther strategy behind this...they make a supercar under the infiniti name to take away from the GTR sales!

but are doing the same with by introducing the altima coupe, although an accord coupe competitor. it will bite sales from the 350Z...i just dont understand their thinking.

They share everything, not surprising. Should be nice.

I have to make a decision soon on either the refreshed M45 or the 550i sport package. Am NOT considering either the Benz E550, or the A6 4.2. Here's the HUGE problem that's got me in limbo. I love the M45's looks, stance and engine smoothness (plus gear to revs matching kickdown). I'm a gearhead though, and the 550i can be had with a 6-speed manual. THe BMW's interior is a notch and a half below the M45's... I don't know... 55 large is a fair amount (61 large for the 550i out the door- I'm buying outright, not leasing) and I would keep the car for at least 5-6 years. Any personal choices people- and please include your reasoning as well.
