Toyota Tells The Union To Leave Their Demands With The Receptionist

Executives at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky Inc. have no intention of meeting with a Kentucky workers’ rights group that plans to call on them Tuesday, Aug. 28, to discuss worker issues.

The labor group says it will deliver a list of proposals to senior Toyota management to correct what the group claims are worker problems at Toyota’s Georgetown, Ky., auto plant. A press conference was scheduled at the plant entrance at 10 a.m. local time.

But the visitors probably will be greeted by a receptionist who instead will invite them to drop off their proposals and be on their way.

“They sent us an electronic invitation to meet last Friday,” Toyota spokesman Rick Hesterberg said today. “We declined that invitation. But if they have recommendations or proposals for us, they can leave them here for us to review.”

Shouldn't call them hicks.

It was in Oak Ridge, Tennessee where the Atomic Bombs used on Japan were built for the most part.

We used those A-Bombs not because they were nessecesary, but for punishment. It was to send the message to Japan to never think again of envading this country because next time it will be 15 or 20 :)

BTW, it was Democrats FDR and Truman that funded the Manhattan Project and used the devices.

Toyota should leave some rolls of toilet paper in front of the building for them to write their suggestions on.

Afterwards, they could collect them and put them in the restroom stalls for "review".

Toyota should have labor relations and process improvement, but forming a union is a little bit of a stretch. Toyota isn't profitable because it treats it's employee's bad, but because of focus on average products that people like and are of a high quality for the price. I know these people that want to unionize think they are doing the right thing, but I really think a better approach is aligning with Toyota's attitude and offer suggestions for improvements and not demands for what they want to change. A good company will always consider all options for improving the work environ.

Kentucky is a very union state. Education lags behind the rest of the country and most people that work in an assembly plant no matter where it is located are usually not rocket scientists. I would say everything is still on the table not the receptionist's desk.
