Toyota at Frankfurt: World-premiere of radical new small car concept

Toyota is set to unveil a revolutionary new small car concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Toyota’s Chairman, Fujio Cho, said last week that Toyota is looking to launch a small car within in the next two years. The radical new small car concept at Frankfurt is expected to be the concept study of that car.

The low-cost small car will be aimed at emerging markets and may even be considered for developed markets as well...

the race is now truly on. Now that Toyota too has dropped the hammer along with Honda, Renault, BMW, VW and GM to develop lighter more fuel efficient vehicles that are more affordable.
1) While high tensile steel has been increasing used to cut weight and mantain structural integrity, it has its limits as it is mostly used in bits and pieces as opposed to having an entire car design built around it.
2) Material design : Honeycomb ceramics, carbon fibre reinforced plastics, are some areas that i am familiar with that cars manufacturers are playing around with. The short story is that, how can alternate materials be included as part of the structural strength of the car.

Just think how many of those thinks they could sell in china,they have to be tired of riding bikes.
