Democratic Hopeful Says: If Elected He Will Tell Americans To Give Up SUVs
Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards told a labor group Tuesday that he would ask Americans to make a big sacrifice: their sport utility vehicles.

"I think Americans are actually willing to sacrifice," Edwards said during a forum held by the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. "One of the things they should be asked to do is drive more fuel efficient vehicles."

The former North Carolina senator was asked specifically if he would tell them to give up their SUVS, he said, "Yes."

Is this door knob going to give up his 28,000 sqft. mansion and will he give up his $1,200 haircuts?

Will the bumpkin that started his Presidential bid in New Orleans about 6 months ago talking with poor African Americans that lost everything in Katrina continue to own the company that is foreclosing on those same poor Katrina victims?

The punk can drive a Prius, but he better never mess with el34's SUV!

I don't think he should be talking about SUV's i do agree that it wouldnt be a bad idea to have more fuel efficient vehicles but i dont think having a big vehicle is the problem is the engine people come on. This is the US we cant be like France or England with real small cars the US is like 10 times the size of those countries if not bigger so lets put this in a propotional perspective. small country = smaller car big= bigger car but sure give us the option to buy whichever car we want

Europe has small cars because the streets there were built during the horse and wagon days. Horses and wagons aren't as big as cars. That's why they're so small; so they can fit down the streets.

Nobody cares about the Ford Fusion. It's a failure. Ford, as of now, is a failure. It's everything they can do to make a profit- and that includes selling Aston Martin, Jaguar and Land Rover.

will he also urge the rich to give up their exotic or ultra-luxury rides.

will he also urge folks to give up their full size or high performance sedans?

will he also urge folks to give up their sports/muscle cars?

will he also urge folks to give up their minivans?

what a moron

when i was single, i drove a grand cherokee. i like to build furniture so it came in handy regularly hauling stuff from the lumber yards and hardware stores. when i wasn't hauling hardware, i was hauling people or being asked to help friends/family move...the same friends/family who questioned why i needed an suv.

damikco, it was just the other day that there was a microburst in the Chicago metro. Tornado warnings, flash floods and severe thunderstorms abound.

It was then that we came to the realization that we still need one SUV. A 535xi would not have been able to get through the eight-inch flooding and thunder-struck trees.

John Edwards has a nice great big ol' ranch here in North Carolina that has many black SUVs right in the driveway...

I'm not pointing anyone out but it's definitely time for some of you to invest in a dictionary.

dic·tion·ar·y
A reference book containing an alphabetical list of words, with information given for each word, usually including meaning, pronunciation, and etymology.

John Edwards is an absolute IDIOT! General Motors is a major economic boost for the U.S. and what is the majority of their vehicles sold? Oh that's right, SUV's! There's the Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, Yukon XL, Acadia, and Escalade. If he "tells" (which I think is a little demanding of him) us to give up our SUVs, GM will lose the one good thing they've got going for them and the economy will go down.

John Edwards is a money-grubbing hypocrit. He drives gass-guzzling crossover's all the time (he has an SRX and a Pacifica).

As an aside, this idiot went to go work for a hedge fund after he lost his job as senator to, verbatum: "learn about poverty"

HA! That's like working at a soup kitchen to learn about being rich!

Let get serious here, this idiot know that the global warming is a big issue so he try to capitolized it. American are willing to sacrifice, yeah...right! where have you been living in the past 5 years bro?

Where I live in OC, you be lucky when you turn to change lane, and get permission to change. About 99.9% of the motorist will speed up and won't like you change or cut lane in front of them. So what make he think they give away their SUV? what a goofball.

SUV's are a joke, they don't do ANYTHING well and make very poor people movers. But he's a hypocrite because he owns one.

I'll give up my SUV if he shaves his head (and is restricted to paying the barber less than $10 to do it).
