Land Rover’s Future: No major changes to lineup until Ford finds buyer

As Ford tries to sell Land Rover, any product development in the pipeline is on hold. While a new LR2 did arrive in April, the Range Rover and LR3 are aging and whoever buys Land Rover has a lot of developmental cost coming their way.

Not to mention, that if Land Rover and Jaguar are sold to the same buyer, the two will have to share a development cost. Now unless someone aggressive takes over Land Rover, expect at least a couple of years before you see major changes to Land Rover’s lineup.

I really hope Toyota buys Land Rover to make their SUVs even better with Hybrid models ,it is very unlikely though.

toyota will ruin land rover. I think ford shld just keep it since they have done a good job. Toyota will ruin the designs

Remind u that Toyota's comparable SUVs are already better than Land Rovers's. They are much more reliable,better offroad(Toyota LC),more luxurious(LX570)with better engines(NA 5.7 V8 380BHP)....etc

I think it's Landrover who needs help in Reliability and Interior especially.

How is a 5.7 380hp "better" than a 4.2 400hp, even if it is supercharged?

And more luxurious? My left foot it's more luxurious. The Range Rover has the best interior in its class.
And at least a Range Rover isn't just a Land Cruiser with a bit more wood, because that's all the LX is. The LX has wood at the windowline on the doors, the Land Cruiser does not. There is no other difference.

Reliability wise, Toyota wins but offroad the tables turn in Rover's favor. The LC is money and an icon but the Defenders other Range Rovers were out before the LC. Honestly, the interior of a Land Rover is more upscale than an LC or LX.

Toyota wouldent be stupid enough to buy Land rover, what could they possibly offer them ? I hope someone buys them and shut them down 2 secs later...cant they just die allready...
