Volvo’s Future: New XC90 coming in 2010, small XC60 to rival X3
Of all the luxury brands for sale currently by Ford, Volvo is probably one of the most integrated luxury brands with FoMoCo. In fact, both of Volvo’s key platforms are used by other Ford brands.

Executives now fear that separation from Ford can have a negative effect on Volvo’s future lineup.

A vast improvement over previous styling but Volvo needs to get rid of that ridiculous diagonal bar across the grille. I love the comfortable seats that Volvo typically has but hate Volvo's transvere mounting of engines and the fact that they try to rip you off by charging extra for most paint colors on models I have checked out. Shame on Ford for allowing Volvo to charge extra for paint -- even Ford itself has not sunk so low as to charge extra for paint.

Volvo needs to keep that diagonal bar across the grille because without it the car wont be a volvo. If you didnt notice car companies try not to departure from defining comapny design cues. Mercedes maintains that defined shaped grille, BMW maintains the double grille, SAAB maintains their triple shaped grille. Volvo IMO is nothing but another look alike on the road without the diagonal bar and many others would agree with me. What i would like to know is what will the future line up of Volvo really be because from what I can see, they have some searching to do. C30 is the hatch, S60 and V50 the future estate, S80 and V70 the new estate, the C70 the convertible, the XC70, the XC90 to take the X5 head on. Only thing IMO Volvo needs to do now is get the S100 for the 7 series rival and the V90 as the estate, the s100 doesnt have to be as big as the 7 series but it could be a very luxurious coupe sedan like the CLS. Make a small convertible roadster on the C30 bases but only 2 seater. Bring back the S40 as the Audi A3 rival a four door hatch.

Dude, every high end manufacturer charges extra for metallic colors. When was the last time you purchased a car over $30K? Get rid of the diagonal bar? Why doesn't Benz dump the star or BMW kill the spinning prop? Get a clue man.

Volvo and maybe Lincoln are the only two companies Ford still has. The rest have gone in the dumpster. Congrads to Ford for what it has done with Volvo though.

Ford just shoveled money into Volvo and took all the cool technology and platforms Volvo had and then proliferated them throughout Ford's lineup.

Mercury is still on life support, and Jaguar and Land Rover are also in the Ford portfolio- but are in the process of a sell-off. JagRover deserves better parents that provide them with better technology, new engines and keep their themes of sexy styling alive.

I still think it should be called XC50. XC60 doesn't make much sense- it will be based on the S40, which has the V50 variant. It will go XC50, XC70, XC90. It just works.
