BMW's Q2 pre-tax profit down 13.6 pct

FRANKFURT, Aug 1 (Reuters) - BMW (BMWG.DE: Quote, Profile, Research), the world's largest premium carmaker, reported a 13.6 percent decline in second-quarter pre-tax profit to 1.065 billion euros ($1.46 billion), lagging average analyst expectations.

The Munich-based company confirmed its outlook for 2007.

A survey of 23 analysts polled by reuters had on average estimated a pre-tax profit of 1.13 billion euros.

It's because they're removing spare tires -- 2 of my neighbors (who were waiting for the new 3ix) switched to Audis because they didn't want to go up the mountains without a spare tire.
I wanted to upgrade to the convertible, but same thing -- no spare can be fitted in the trunk (plus it doesn't come in 4wd)

Eh, this is because they're investing more of ethier profits in alternative fuel sourced vehicles and hybrids, not because they're removing spare tires. They've been using runflat tires for years now and they're sales have increased. This is to do with profit, not with sales numbers.
