First look: Volvo hybrid ReCharge Concept

It seems going green is one of the leading themes of the upcoming Frankfurt Auto Show with nearly every manufacturer debuting some new green technology or hybrid concept. Volvo, however, has not yet produced a hybrid vehicle. That’s all about to change.

Volvo’s plug-in hybrid ReCharge Concept, developed in California by Volvo Concept and Monitoring Center, features four electric motors - one at each wheel. The motors are powered by lithium-polymer batteries which can be charged from a standard household plug.

Great...another car that is more environmentally damaging to produce than a Hummer H1.

For those of you in Rio Linda...I'm talking about the nickel you have to mine in order to make the batteries for these cars...far more environmentally damaging than the RECYCLED steel used to build H1's or the subsequent emissions they spat out. Not to mention all of the fume's emitted into the atmosphere for all the back and forth on cargo ships (primarily the Prius or any jap/euro hybrid) as opposed to the Hummer which are born and bred in the U.S. and don't have to be shipped anywhere (if a US buyer, of course).

Next time all of you cooook enviro's see a Hummer out there, try to waive instead of spray paint. Consider yourself educated.
