Okamoto speaking last month about Toyota’s midterm business plan, said that Toyota has plans to launch more ”appealing products” that are “fun to drive.” He added that the strategy will involve the “development of a new sports model.”

Okamoto also showed a slide show revealing a Lexus...

David989,

The Ferrari Dino was a car that was made and produced in the early 1970's. The MR2 was made in the eighties. What the hell are you talking about?

And It wasn't a ferrari Dino but a Fiat Dino. Even though Ferrari desinged the car and pretty much built it. they didn't want the name "ferrari" being associated with a car that cost as little as the Dino did.

I remember reading about the sc400 in 1990 before it was released. At that time I liked Lexus and was on record arguing plenty of times that the 1989 Ls400 beat out Mercedes on merit (boy was I stupid back then).

I anticipated a true sports-luxury coupe from Lexus but when I finally did see the Sc400 I realized that Lexus isn't an enthusiast's brand.

The same holds true today. The Sc430? Lexus should be ashamed of that car. The Sc430 didn't excite anyone. I've yet to come across a Premium brand sports coupe that has received less attention from the automotive press. To say that the sc430 was a dud would be giving it a complement.

What does this have to do with the article? I’ll believe that Lexus will build an enthusiast car when I see it. An up until today, Lexus still hasn’t delivered.

I like how "fun to drive" is in quotes. If they're really serious about making a good sports car, that's a given.
