What will BMW do to keep resale value up on 02 and 03 7-series cars?

Rumor has it that BMW will pull a defensive move to protect resale value on 2002 and 2003 7-series (it's virtually a done deal) by extending the warranty to 6 years/100K miles.

A smart move by BMW to protect resale values but our recommnedation is to stay clear of ANY 2002 7's, even if they have a 25 year, 1000 mile warranty.

Play it safe and only get a post January 2003 production vehicle.

Those are the cars that have upshift AND downshift buttons on the steering wheels.

Those 03's and 04's are MUCH more reliable.

If it was our money, we'd take that route.

Congrats to BMW for acknowledging problems and being fair in the response to customers. If Mercedes did the same for their unreliable vehicles and model years Mercedes would have to offer extended warranties on just about every car and truck they've sold in the US in the last five years. . .

we have an 03 7. Just got the letter yesterday for the extended warranty to 6years/100k miles. they also offer some other stuff like if you lease another 7 they will give you 3 lease payments and 350 for bmw loyalty and 650 for any damages when they inspect your car. something along those lines its great.
