If you think the 2007 face lifted 997 will raise the performance stakes further than they already have, you would be right.

The 400-bhp development models are hitting 0-60 in under 4 seconds and topping 200-mph as standard.

As for the GT and Turbo models, they will make Ferrari 430 performance look like a GM truck.

All this, plus their new 6&7-speed DSG style semi-automatic gearbox are just over two years away.

Sad to say, as a daily driver in commute traffic, the M3 SMG II is much better than Tiptronic and I've been waiting for Porsche to do something here. I may move back to the Zuffenhausen brand !
