The 335d Coupe is even Quicker

Over here in the UK that sort of driving is pretty normal, even though the speed limit is 75mph there are almost no Police with Radar or Fixed Speed Traps on the Major Motorways.

Lane Discipline is the major factor in being able to travel Very Fast without being involved in a wreck, notice how all the slower vehicles were in the right lane, and how the 18-wheelers were not all competing to overtake each other thus using up the fast lane for 5 miles while trying to overtake another truck that is travelling 3.5 mph slower.

Amen to that. That is one thing that I loved about the German drivers as compared to Americans. They are attentive to the traffic around them and *behind* them. There were quite a few times i'd be coming up on someone doing almost 200kph and they'd gracefully move over and let me by. Let's see that happen in the states :(

But most people drive 90mph anyway - unless there's a police car, when everyone slams on the brakes. However, i believe teh German government is considering slapping a speed limit on teh Autobahns purely for "emissions concerns".

What kind of a dumbass question is that? Everyone knows what the speed limit is. We are auto enthusiasts. We don't believe there should be any speed limit. That's the whole point of the obsession with the autobahn and German cars.

In the Midwest, lane discipline is not too bad for America. Every now and then you will have an out-of-state/region driver hoggin' the left lane, but this happens rarely. The roads in general are not heavily congested, this helps.

I wish we had AutoBahns here in the States. The issue is that we have people coming from all over the world to live here and some are not the best drivers thus slower Speed Limits. Another issue is that everything is so damn expensive to maintain that there are cops everywhere to catch speeders to create tickets to pay for the roads...lol...vicious cycle!!!

That's Germany, they are probably the best drivers in the world. Very good discipline and their cars are in the perfect middle of their lane.

Thank you! I had the chance to take an 07 S8 out on the autobahn recently and I can say with 100% accuracy that 152 mph felt rock solid. Plus, I would rather be in an Audi with quattro than a BMW any day doing these kind of speeds.

I was able to keep my A4 2.0T at 150mph+ with no problems at all .. as long the drivers are using the proper lanes. Wowowowow a huge V8 in the M3 can drive fast ...

SO for that stupid "bimmer" guy above: I have tried it with no problems what so ever, just in case you don't know the 2.0T in my A4 has a 2L engine. You are probably not getting it still .. need more explanations?

Other than that, driving straight is for women, no feeling what so ever. Except when u hit a tree. Any decent car will be able to sustain high speeds safely, no need for a BMW. I tried a C-class with no problems for HOURS. It's quite boring actually.

You're right. Driving fast isn't so exciting really.

But if you are not used to it I can imagine the thrill it gives you.

I dont think, even for a super duper german vehicle, a 2.0T can go 150mph. Your kph to mph is probably off. Maybe on a long downhill.

Sadly, as an owner of the current M3 and every model before that, it's clear that the vehicle has lost its way, becoming far too large, complex and expensive...

complex? I wouldn't just be the M3 then. BMW in general is reowned for complex engineering. Some times even overly done.

This little video will hopefully be one more hole in the dike of America's misperception of modern diesel engines as slow, noisy, smelly, and sooty. I am glad that BMW has decided to fast-track the introduction of some of their diesel cars into the American market. Let us hope that Volkswagen, Audi and Mercedes-Benz accelerate their diesel introduction schedules as well, not only for fuel efficiency and environmental considerations but also because I am too tall to fit in the current BMW 3-series models! :-)) By the way, I understand that Honda is supposed to introduce a turbo-diesel Accord next year. Here's to sparkless driving!

Didnt look like the 335d was catchin up to me. It looked like the M3 was slowing down for traffic. If the M3 had open roads ahead, it would break away easily, until it topped out, of course.

And lets not start talking about other cars...

And then there is that party pooper 155 mph speed limiter. Which I am sure the 335D can run close to if not right up against it.

You call that exciting? That is almost daily fun for me.

But I see where you are coming from, America isn't exactly a land where you can vmax your car...
