The Porsche Boxster coupe

The magazines and websites (including us) have been upping the chatter regarding the impending introduction of a Boxster coupe.

The question I have to ask is...

Are there really THAT many people who would actually want one?

Seems to me sales of Boxster-like products are mediocre at best.

So why is a Boxster coupe such a good idea?

Remember the BMW M coupe? You know, the official car of the Munsters!

What a dud that was.

I'd really like to hear our readers opinions about the genius or the insanity of bringing out a Boxster coupe.

The only way it would make sense is if it had a retractable carbon fiber roof so it was a coupe AND a convertible.

Now there's an idea! ;)

The "munster car" BMW M Coupe didn't sell well but could easily spank any of the other models as far as performance and handling was concerned.

If Porsche brought the Boxster Coupe in nicely loaded for 35K it would be a great car and a big seller. I can't see a hard top convertible but if they did a targa with the glass roof that would be perfect.

Hell I'll be the first to admit, because I'm not a slave to my pride, that I can't afford a new 911...yet...AND this is probably as close as I'll get for now. Although I am seriously comtemplating getting a 2002 C4S that I saw for 55,000...which is about the price of the Boxter S coupe. Also, I live in NY so convertibles are not very appealing to me. I think the Boxster coupe will do well in the snow belt states...especially if they were offered with 4 wheel drive.

6 speed manuals are better...if not for the top speed then for the 6th gear overdrive. You can really improve your fuel economy better with a 6th gear...that's a fact.

the boxster is a very good looking car with all the german q's , however.. why would any one buy a car that dose not allow one to even see the motor???!! I mean the best thing about any car is the motor ,how it LOOKS as well as how it runs, means everthing!! you can not even change your own oil?? I don;t think i will ever get the point of the car, except that the propritiry nature of the car cause profits for the company.. but not from my pocket! thanks much for listening
