Frankfurt Motor Show: Mazda RX-8 Special Edition unveiled

Awesome car. Styling has held up well over the past few years, and really defined the design language Mazda has embraced across the entire lineup. Should look great in another 20 years.

Apart from styling, what impresses me is that the rotary engine has survived all these years. I wonder why part-owner Ford has not seen fit to use the Mazda rotary in any of its products.

With only 33% interest, Mazda would NEVER alloy Ford to use their precious rotary engine in some POS Ford. Not to mention it would not be cost affective for Ford, and it is 'un-American'.

I owned one.It was a nice car that was a little underpowered and had a few reliability issues and a bunch of recalls. They need to develop the Renesis engine for more power and have a more aggressive exhaust. My 06 Mini CooperS has better power and handles almost as well as my old 2004 RX8 in stock form.

well its hard to beat something like a mini on handling comeon...lol

As we all know, Special Edition usually means this is the last model year for this particular body style...

Knowing Mazda, the next one will be as groundbreakingly gorgeous as the current one.
