Spy Shots: BMW M3 Convertible hits the Nurburgring

i love m3's in general and all the negative reviews i have read doesnt change my opinion of how great im sure the 2008 m3 is,
but can someone please explain to me the point of the m3 if the 335i is almost as fast and more importantly about 15,000 less ?

335 is as fast as the e46 M3 in acceleration, and in terms of top speed, the new e92 M3 should be faster, given the fact that the limiter is removed...

So it won't benefit from that huge amount of weight saving, like the m3 coupe? What was it? 8 lbs? HAhahha

So.. you like Toyota's then?

This M3 non-carbor fibre cab - is a truly ridiculous proposition. BMW is officially no longer a firm driven by engineers, its driven by marketing MBA-types.

They should consider rechristening their brand the 'Bavarian Marketing Works'.

Perhaps they could have management retreat to brainstorm and figure out ways to expand their brand by developing some toasters or sheets/towels to sell at Target.

What are you talking about? The M6 convertible doesn't have a carbon fiber roof, either. It would be ridiculous for them to put it on the convertible, IMO, and I didn't expect them to. It's not as drastic as you're making it out to be.

The top definitely looks a bit off

the m3 convert definitely isnt a very manly looking car.

it looks like a m3 made for women. unfortunately for bmw, the women whom typically will buy a m3 will rarely buy a manual.

That's not unfortunate for BMW- automatics/SMGs cost more.

Sadly, it's just as ill-proportioned and goofy looking as the other 3-series retractables.
