U.S. hybrid sales rise 49 percent through July: Prius leads the segment
First introduced 10 years ago, the Toyota Prius topped 1 million in sales this past May. With sales totaling 1.047 million at the end of May, sales of the Toyota Prius have climbed from 18,000 in 1998 to 312,500 in 2006.

According to a new report by R.L. Polk & Co. today, with the strong sales of the Prius, U.S. hybrid vehicle registrations rose more than 49 percent in the first seven months of 2007 from the same period last year...

This article is MISLEADING. The prius is NOT the only hybrid out there. GM and Ford Motor Co. have released numerous AFFORDABLE models within the past year and thats why it shows such a high increase.
