If the new Fiat 500 with up to 100 horsepower isn’t enough for you, you can hold out for the Abarth version which gets 135 horsepower. And if that’s not enough for you, you’ll have to wait an year to get behind the Abarth SS.

Our friends over at CarMagazine caught these latest spy shots of the new Fiat 500 Abarth SS testing. As you can see from the shots, the car has a larger front bumper and two additional air intakes to keep the engine cooled While there are no official specs on the cars power, SS versions usually get 30 more horsepower than the base Abarths. So you can expect the Fiat 500 Abarth SS to produce at least 165 horsepower...

This car is going to take small-car buyers by storm, easily giving the Mini a run for its money. "Catsmeow," you've never read an article on the new 500 (obviously), and don't understand the point of it.

My one problem with it: although Fiat might have a history with the suffix "SS," it just makes me think of GM- Chevy in particular. That's not a good thing. Stick with "Abarth Sport" or something.

However it is spelt 'esse esse' for a true authentic Italian flavour ;)


I would take a wild guess and say Catsmeow lives in the US, has never heard of the FIAT 500, is probably young, and is easily fooled by over-zealous camouflage.

I would have to agree with that.

The recent CAR article really made me appreciate this car's style. In the pictures they took, it looks like it should cost three times as much.
