2008 Subaru Impreza WRX STi Scooped Undisguised In Japan
A new set of scoop images featuring a virtually undisguised 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX STi have been circulating in several websites and forums today. The STi seen here is distinguished by the wider fenders, the quad exhaust pipes and the charcoal alloy rims. Set to be officially unveiled at the October Tokyo Motor Show, the 2008 Impreza WRX STi is expected to be equipped with a 2.5 turbocharged 4-cylinder boxer engine delivering around 300 Hp.

Subaru sold its soul to Toyota. In contrast to the 06-07 STi, i'd take the 07 over this. Until the official unveiling, im disappointed to see that the next STi will have this hatch.

I have a virtually 100% commitment to buy the 2008 Tribeca. The new WRX style has already grown on me and if the STI version had the Tribeca's normally apirated H-6 engine and leather seats and if my wife did not want a small SUV, then, in my heart of hearts, I would want the WRX STI and I do prefer the hatch. My only complaint is that the STI has cheap-looking clear plastic tail light lenses -- they should always be red and with no ugly chrome suround either.

I do find the hatch a bit more practical than before. And looks are subjective. To me its a mix of Corolla and the 3. Im sure the STi will hold its own in many respects. Im just not there yet with some of the people who like the design. Eventually the looks will grow on me, like the 06-07.

might have to wait to see the real thing. I'd prefer the 07 but the 08 is beginning to grow on me.

It, for all the world, looks like the (very pretty) MAZDA 3's far less attractive twin sister...

YUCK!

Not impressed. The Evo X will surely blow it out of the water, if not in performance then certainly in looks.

But, thankfully, it will probably drive better, too!

As for looks, S4cabriofoxone, the WRX has a lot more character. Any idiot can improve lower-speed performance with the right gearing for quick acceleration. I don't care who blows the STI out of the water -- I still like it's overall character.

BTW, for me "probably drive better" means it will probably be more comfortable to drive and still have above-average handling.

Enn, I was referring to the Evo, saying that it will drive better than the STi- it did last time, too.

What are you talking about, design character?!?!?! The entire reason the new WRX is being panned by the press is because it has NO design character. It looks like a f**ked-up Mazda3. The new Lancer is very, very good-looking and the new Evo will be better in EVERY respect.
