Volkswagen Brand Sales Will Exceed 3.5 Million For 2007

Volkswagen the world’s fourth-largest carmaker, expects its core VW brand to increase sales by over 3.1 percent this year thanks to strong growth in emerging markets like Brazil, Argentina and China.

"By the end of the year Volkswagen will deliver more than 3.5 million vehicles [to customers], more than ever before," VW brand sales and marketing chief Michael Kern said in a statement today.

Last year, models like the Eos hardtop retractable coupe-cabriolet helped boost VW brand sales by 10 percent to nearly 3.4 million units.

In the first eight months of 2007 through August, the brand improved deliveries by 8.3 percent to 2.4 million vehicles.

Wow, I guess (like Audi) they don't really need huge sales in the US?

I don't think VW should focus on sales goals. Make better products. Better sales will come after.
