Nissan GT-R breaks another record at Nurburgring - sets sight on Carrera GT
Just yesterday the Nissan GT-R lapping the Nurburgring faster than the Porsche 911 Turbo with a unofficial record time of 7:38. Earlier this morning, Nissan engineers took the GT-R at the Nurburgring circuit once again for high-speed testing.

New reports from the KGP spies say that Nissan engineers hinted that the GT-R lapped the Nurburgring somewhere under 7:35. With a time like that, the Nissan GT-R is setting its sight on the Carrera GT. Walter Röhrl has reportedly lapped the Nurburgring in a Carrera GT in 7:28. Another Carrera GT run, by...

Think how much more impressive those numbers might be without that idiotic vinyl bra on the front.

I mean GEEZ! we all pretty much know what the thing looks like (which I believe is aesthetically unfortunate), so enough with the B.S.!

Great Numbers though...

Now I know why NSX production got postponed!

The only way for HONDA to catch is to keep NSX mid-engined.

R8 is in the level of boxter/cayman, not in the sub 4 seconds 0-60 or sub 8 minutes Nurburgring laptime league.

LF-A? We'll see.

its is time to get into F1, since Renault in the F1, it will be much cheaper to operate two tems under one flag

It hasn't broken any record, plus it will get nowhere near the CGT time.

This Datsun is not sexy.

Anyone would look like a doorknob driving this car.

Doorknobs open the doors of opportunity. In the GT-R, that opportunity is blowing off everyone else on the road in 4 seconds flat.

@Heyhuub

What kind of idiot are you the GTR laps the ring in 7:35 and you say it hasn't broken any records.

First of all, it doesn't lap the ring in 7:35, thats just speculation.

Second, why is 7:35 a record?

"PRETTY" good? I think it has absolutely the best graphics ever put in a car game- maybe even the best of any video game ever.

I actually thought this was a real picture. I wasn't sure.

As for comments about how the new GT-R looks...

Yes, I agree that it is rather ungainly looking, with odd proportions, and silly details.

It comes across as little more than a common 2-door sedan wearing far too much kit, especially for something that has been so many years in development, but...

These numbers are impressive!

could it really be possible..lapping the ring in 7.35? i'm not saying it is impossible for the skyline but if this is true then that means its neck and neck with an enzo? i know there aren't any official enzo ring lap times but it couldn't be too far off from the CGT..it's absolutely mind boggling if these lap times are true..hmm

Am I the only one that questions how much bhp this car is producing?!? The GT-R is a car larger than the Porsche 911. Yet it is approaching the lap time of the Carrera GT with only 450 bhp!!! Does that make any sense?!? The Carrera GT is a rear wheel drive car that weighs over 3043 lbs, has a top speed of over 205 mph, produces over 600 bhp and 437 lb/ft torque and it is going to be beat by a 4 wheel drive car with only 450 bhp???? God knows this car is not as light as a
Carrera GT and if you believe otherwise then I'm sorry but that kind of stupidity can't be helped. I don't care how good you're 4 wheel drive system is, it sure as hell ain't gonna make up for a 150 bhp and possibbly over 300 lb weight difference. This car is definetly running over 500 to 550 bhp...at LEAST!!

Didn't a article that was posted earlier this year saying the new Skyline GT-R will have 3 version of it. Base version with have 450hp, another one with 570hp against the Lexus LF-A and another in the 600hp.

That wouldn't make sense.

I can understand 450 and 550, but who needs over 600hp in this monster?

And as much as you'd like to think so, they are not targeting the LF-A with this car. It is Lexus who are targeting everyone else.

yes there were many articles about that.
what happened was, a japanese magazine speculated it and internet sites picked it up and passed it along as fact. now that the real pricing and info is out, people are confused. it doesnt matter though as the real gt-r looks to be playing the part regardless.

Too bad the IS-F will come out first. The side view of the GT-R look exactly like it and will appear to be copying Lexus. Besides that the GT-R is sweet! Good for Nissan.
