Xenon lights can help save lives

The difference is TREMENDOUS. After having xenons and becoming accustomed to them it becomes VERY annoying to go back to regular halogen. I cant wait for high power LEDs

I agree 100%. One of the best additions to cars over the last 10 years. It should not be considered a 'luxury' item, it should be a standard safety option...It's ironic that all Volvos dont come standard w/ them...

My leased A6 Quattro has the package that includes bi-xenons. I can't believe the difference either. What really annoys me is that some manufacturers cheat their customes by offering Xenons but for low beams only.

Why I dont get about High beam xenon's is that my manual says you shouldnt quickly turn on and off xenon lights...ok...so if you have them as high beams, if you "flash" your high beams, won't it negatively affect them?

M35MT, Is it a separate high beam, or integrated into one unit? I know for example the BMW bi-xenon lights are actually a single light with a physical "dam" that is moved out of the way allowing more light to pass through for the high beam. This is a mechanical apparatus, rather than a separate light.

I think the reason they don't want you flashing it quick is the time it takes to heat up (look at the lights when you first turn them on).

I wouldn't trust a German study or car if my life depended on it.

It doesn’t end there, imagine you watching through your rearview mirror being blinded by those super strong xenon headlights and not being able to properly view the road ahead of you because your peripheral vision is targeted at those idiotic xenons.

Ban all xenons and come out with the LED's already.

DiamondJim, you must do your driving where many aftermarket xenons have been installed without having had the lights properly aimed. In any event, polite drivers always turn off their high beams to oncoming traffic or when following other vehicles closely.

Lo-lifes who deliberately blind other drivers should have their headlights zapped by a maser. The microwave beam would cook the filament and the bulb would no longer shine. I'm not sure this would defend against xenons as most of them have a light source in a box within the engine compartment with light transmission to the headlights accomplished by a fibre optic cable that connects to the light source. It's that fibre optic cable that made those early xenons so expensive. This technology is cheap enough now that xenons should be standard equipment on all vehicles.

I've been blinded in the rear view by xenons before. Every time, it's been a BMW X5... Something about how high they are in the car and how high the beam is positioned. I cant see ANYTHING when those darn things are following me. I slow down to let them pass and instead, get X5 right up my a$$ and even brighter lights.

Like EnnNorak said, Xenons need to be properly leveled...and you're an idiot anyhow, because HALOGEN LIGHTS PRODUCE MORE GLARE.

It's called tilting your mirror so that you have the tab on the back towards night time mode so the light shining in the mirror doesn't blind you. Or you just need to turn on the auto-dimming feature of your rear view mirror.
