Nissan starts pre-launch steps for GT-R: Releases Japanese Pricing
Nissan today started its pre-launch steps for the Nissan GT-R that will lead up to the car’s official unveiling at the Tokyo Motor Show on October 24th. Of course as mentioned before the car will be known as the Nissan GT-R not the Skyline GT-R as before.

Launched today, the Nissan GT-R website will provide information on the car, including latest news, specifications and where to buy it. Sales for the Nissan GT-R begin in December for Japan.

Japanese customers will be getting information including basic specifications, colors and practical information on placing pre-orders later today. We’ll get those to you as soon as they come out. Other than that pricing in Japan for the GT-R will start around 7.8 million yen (around $68,000)...

Do not understand why Nissan did not go with Skyline. Would make it that much more desireable.

If they named it Skyline then it would confuse people. The JDM Skyline and G35 are the same car. The Skyline and GTR do not share the same platform or market aspirations.
