Spy Shots: Audi A1 Scooped

At first glance this may seem like the Volkswagen Polo. When in reality this is really a prototype for the upcoming Audi A1. Pinned directly at BMW’s MINI Cooper, the Audi A1 will is expected to be priced at €16,000.

The Audi A1 is expected to come in four different variants including a three-door hatchback, a five-door and a coupe and convertible. Power is expected to come from a 1.4 liter engine that will produce up to 170 horsepower. An S1 variant is expected that will produce upwards of 200 horsepower. A 1.6 diesel variant is also on the drawing board....

It'll be very difficult if not imposible to dethrone the Mini. The Mini is a legend, this one is a warmed-over Polo.

Hmm. I love it when people bash a car before they're even sure if it's coming out- let alone knowing how it drives.

I love the Mini, but considering Audi's recent track record, this car will give it a scare, Polo-based or not. They can do a lot with a FWD car, you know. Look at the A3.

The Polo's a fantastic car. (for a low-cost sub-compact).
i've checked them out in Mexico City.
I wish they sold them here.
Then i could get my daughter a small car that safe and reliable and practical (something that VW does better than anyone else).

I agree, it's probably the Scirroco.

A new Audi would be disguised under an Audi body, like the last-gen A3/A2 or a shortened current model.

How is this news?

We all know that Audi is working on a vehicle to slot below the A3, so showing us a VW Polo and declaring that it's some Audi test mule is just a waste of time...
