Spy Shots: Mystery Supercar - is it a Lotus Esprit, McLaren or Noble?

Our friends over at CarMagazine have spotted a mystery supercar at a UK facility. While Car’s first inclination was a Lotus Esprit, all inquiries so far say it isn’t.

What we know so far is that the prototype in the pictures is mid-engined and is powered by a 7.0 liter V8 engine producing up to 512 horsepower with 470 lb-ft of torque.

Other speculations say that this is McLarens upcoming baby supercar since it has similar proportions. Some say that this may also be the new Noble since an upgraded M15 is long overdue...

I cant see the obvious in Lotus using a V8, i know they used a small TT V8 before, but a heavy 7 litre NA engine ? Thats against all Lotus principles...

They can't figure out what car it is...but they know the engine, hp, and torque numbers...am I missing something!

The taillights look 100% Esprit to me. I dig the use of grey taping to mimic that of the R8. Manufacturers should know better that people looking at spy pictures know better.

Yea that def looks and sounds like the new Lotus. V8 rules out the Noble prolly. And that design looks like the design that have been "spied" for months now. And also that looks way to exotic for something Mercedes would design.

A lotus with a 7 litre engine ? Get outa here....Its Lotus folks ! They dont need huge engines to go fast, they are all about lightweight and handling....
