Drifting in the hills of Osaka Japan

first person here to say drifting is for stupid teenagers and is just a fab will be officially declared a retard.

The only reason I hate drifting is becasue it is almost criminal abuse of a vehicle. I have too much respect for cars. I'm glad there was no drifting when I visited Osaka in the early sixties.

Don't hate drifting because you can't do it.

I would make an excellent drifter as I used to park my car on Montreal's icy winter streets by simply drifting into a tight parking spot driving in from the opposite side of the street. Another time on I-81 in the northern part of New York State, I passed a car on glare ice and we both went into a spin. I managed to complete the spin as we drifted around each other without touching vehicles. It was as if we were the tandem rotor blades on a CH-47 helicopter except that we were both spinning in the same direction.

i still think the video with teh R32 vs RX7-FC going down hill was better..it was more dramatic but video quality was as clear

drifting doesnt hurt the car, come on people.

Only the tires...and we can always buy new ones.

A car is meant to be driven.
In no way does drifting hurt the car.

Drifitng doesnt hurt the car, people do. But keep in mind, people who drift push the car to a limit, putting alot of straining on the internals. So yes drift cars will suffer damage. Tires, rims, transmissions even whole engines will go from a small mistake. Its similar to the WRC. Difference is, drifting has sucked teenagers to want to drive in a similar fashion. Take a RWD car and trac off, next thing you know they wrecked thier cars, gone the hospital and never allowed a car again.

Yesterday I was cruising in my X5 at night when I saw a Nissan patrol spinning wheels. He hit the road side, hit a lamp post, petrol was all over the place and 2 of his tires were blown.... totally deserved it as he was anoying me!

Until you try drifting you shouldn't knock it. It takes a lot of skill to hang the back of the car out at hit the gas and pull through a turn. In this video, for 4-5 cars to be less than 5 feet apart flying down a hill drifting, it should be admired as a skill. Check out the circles two cars do around a light post.

whoever knocks drifing is dumb, they teach a certain kind of drifting at BMW school, i mean you're pushing the car to the limit so you need to learn how to control it.

if you watch the video reviews on top gear you see the drivers drifting out of or into turns.

that's just regular powersliding though, actual drifting is having to continuosly hold that slide through corners. To see an example go to youtube and type in top gear monaro drifting and watch the results.

I am looking for some information on going and checking out drifting events. I got two friends visiting me from Dubai and they are dying to see some car action when out here in Osaka this week. So any info you can provide us with will help me out greatly.
