The best car on earth for the money?

When you look at the 2005 Corvette's stats, it's hard to argue that there could be another car that gives you so much for the money.

It's always been a good value but this year it gets even better.

The performance is spectacular!

The only flaw we see in the car, is the rather mediocre execution of the interior look and materials...although it's better than the C5.

We wished it looked a little more like a cross between the BMW Z4 and the 1963 Corvette split window coupe.

Our favorite color combos are the Millenium Yellow/Black and the Silver/Lipstick red interior.

If anyone has pics of the later we'd love to show them to our readers...

Looks like Chevrolet cut a lot of corners with this car. Yes, the interior is cheap. The engine technology is dated. The rear suspension utilises leaf-springs. The entire car looks like it is made of plastic....It may be better than the C5, but that in iself isn't hard.

I put away my prejudices and test drove a C5 in 1999. And i bought one. Probably the best car I've ever had; and I've had a lot of really good cars. The C6 is a clear improvement. And yeah, the interior doesn't match the real quality of this car. But then again, the original Boxter's interior seemed pretty cheap and the Boxter is a great car.
For under $50K -delievered- there's nothing better. t

Knowitall...I don't even know why you even tried to educate a bunch of no nothing whiners ! Anyone who follows performance specs knows that the STI or Evo is no match for the Corvette on a track...and it shouldn't have to be spelled out the way you did...that should be just plain damn common sense. Let's see if anyone on this board has the balls to put their "family" sports cars up against a Viper, Ferrari, or Lamborghini. If you have a family or kids...yeah..stick to your turbocharged station wagons and stay out of the left lane when the real sports cars need to pass.

John - Honestly, the $32,000 I save by not buying the M5 can make a pretty nasty Vette that only a Hennesy Viper would challenge. And Yes, You will be more than welcome to fill the extra two seats that you have to witness the massacre !

If it's one thing no one can dispute is that the reliability of the Corvette engine...that thing is rock solid and it's damn near bulletproof. I agree with knowitall...your repair bill is going to be bigger than mine =0)

The car is really fun to drive. Drive it for yourself and see. Don't listen to all the hen pecked mini van drivers bitching about it.

I will concede to the point that this car has the best performance at its price. Value on the other hand must be measured in performance/dollar. In which case cars like the Evo, Sti, even the Ford GT are of the same “value” when measured this way. Though the Evo may not go quite as fast as the Corvette, it also cost less, and though the Ford GT costs more, it also has more performance.

I’ve heard rumors that TVR is going to make a comeback in the states. If this is true, bye bye Corvettes, hello Tuscan S. With performance numbers beating even that of the C6 Corvette, interior that’s totally unique and polished to the T, and a price that’s hard to pass up, it would be the hands down winner of best performance for the money.
