I'm so glad. Maybe now we can finally get a Jag with adequate rear leg room and a more competitive price.

The XJL has more leg room than the 7 series and the s clas and the audi A8 etc etc etc .... Ugghhh!

Jagexpert2, did you actually sit in the back of one. I did and was not happy. If you believe the bochures then you are correct but it sure did not feel that way when I looked at the A8L, S and JXL the same day. The audi A8L seemed to have the most rear leg room. and the Jag the least. I don't believe bochures any more since BMW sent me a 6-series brochure (printed in Germany) and it had the dimensional drawing of the 3 instead of the 5. Best to take a tape measure to the showroom and check it yourself.

Maybe the rumors are true that the Jaguar nameplate will not exist anymore on their vehicles.

Sad how two British auto icons are reduced to being bought and sold repeatedly. Would be a death nail if Tata rebadge Jags!!!

It's kind of funny, I would say that ^^^ is the attitude that gets many big companies in trouble, ignorance brought huge losses to the American car companies and death to the British industry, but you guys are entitled to your opinions. Oh btw, EnvyofyouRS5 an SUV may bring in the sales needed. I know that you'll probably say that Jaguar shouldn't make suv's and all, but if it sells then it needs to be done (A company from any country would probably take this step, you have to do what you need to sell cars).

I want to add that I don't want to see TATA buying Jaguar btw, I don't think that it would be the right thing to do because Jag is in so deep.

Just sad. I forsee Jaguar disappearing as a brand shortly. Hopefully it the brand gets revitalized down the road by VW or BMW. Just look at how well the Mini, Lamborghini, and Bentley brands have done since new ownership. Some of the hottest cars out there nowadays.

Kart, who are you to say what the stats are on the american and euro companies, and then not back up, and call people ignorant. If i remember correctly audi has had record sales along with bmw and mercedes, and continually best that record monthly(so far). OH Kart 1 BTW lets have a company who doesnt sell SUVs or even stand for SUV's produce one. Sell out i believe is the word? but on a bigger and more educated opinionated note,
i would just Offer low to profitable brands like Mercedes maybe even audi(although i think benz would be a better choice)to save themselves. Thus not losing any dignity(not that tata doesnt have any, but it certainly has no background or near prestige as jaguar)Therefor retaining the brand without going out out of line and style, which is what jag reps.

Ok First of all I did not say European companies, maybe you cant read either. I said American and British car industry. Now I apologize if I have to point out to you that the American companies (GM, Ford, and Chrysler) are not making profits because of their ignorance - or weren't making profits till now. I also apologize if I have to point out that none of British car companies are owned by British citizens. CAN SOME ONE TELL ME WHETHER I NEED TO HAVE STATS TO PROVE THAT PART.

Finally, we have seen Porsche sucessfully sell SUVs, will you say that Porsche is not a profitable company, I am saying this to show that selling SUV's is not a bad decision because SUV's provide what people want. Now about the selling out part, I did refer to that and that is what I meant by saying "You have to do what you need to sell cars." Selling to MB might be a better choice because MB has more prestige. However, MB may not have the better chance to save Jaguar considering the situation they are in when looking at the recent separation with Chrysler.

At the end I would like to say that I do not provide stats for something that is and has been all over the news.

About the British car companies, I do know Aston Martin is owned by Britons, but that happened recently so I was referring to the trend which occured earlier.

"will you say that Porsche is not a profitable company, I am saying this to show that selling SUV's is not a bad decision because SUV's provide what people want."

Porsche is selling SUV's BECAUSE they are profitable. They had extra cash around and chose to develop non-traditional product. Jaguar, thank goodness, does not have that luxury- they are now focusing on what makes a Jaguar a Jaguar (supposedly) and do not have the capacity to be bothered with ancillary matters such as an SUV. Its not going to happen.

I do not approve of this.

I don't know who the fool is that posted the headline for this, but that is not what the article states. In fact, it frankly states it would be a rather poor decision on the part of Tata.

I don't post information on this on autospies- it is generally not important, but I do keep up with it. The present state of things is as follows: apparentley Mahindra and Mahindra as well as Cerberus have bowed out. There is a new bidder, the private equity firm Terra Firma which recently acquired EMI.

i'm in a bit of a hurry so correct me if im wrong, but "The group's automotive unit, Tata Motors (NYSE:TTM), India's third largest carmaker, is virtually debt-free after stripping out its vehicle finance business."....... INDIA'S third largest carmaker, not the world. just thought to point that out

hmm, i dont know what everybody thought with ford owning jag and land rover, i mean ford is only slightly highier in the food chain than tata, if you do not include the debt. As my british friend said, they would rather let an indian company own a british brand than "the americans". The hate just seeps out of all ignorant people here.

Jaguars are about to be made by tata's.

Come on people I'm old and even I think that's funny.

I dont really care about the Jag having little legroom, I might as well complain about Lamborghini having such a powerful engine that with unreasonable consumption. But please, lets not disrespect brands that have provided us mortals with such beauties. I dread profenity on wheels. somebody tell me its not true.
