First real-life pics of a new Mercedes

Dear 001,

When you first see the new 2005 SLK, the first thing that comes to mind is that it looks so fresh, modern and pleasing to the eye.

Similar to that feeling when you see a concept car unveiled at an auto show.

I especially like the interior switchgear and quality of materials...like MB's of old but cooler!

OK the design is nice, not jarring. There is more attention to the interior than on the last SLK, and I'd chose one over the Z4 or Boxster - but the big question is again, reliability. Will wait a year or two before buying - by which time there may be a new BMW 3-series convertible - so I guess I won't ever buy the SLK.

What rubbish. Anything to make Lexus look better aye? I'm sure Mercedes-Benz drew their inspiration for a chic sportscar from a repulsive japanese saloon. Maybe thats the reason for all the negativity over the new SLK -it resembles a E330!

I suppose your rantings are a more polite way of saying you have no taste. You seem to hate every car known to man. look, I know you are a leading car expert and have years of experience designing beautiful cars, but that does not mean you can knock-off everything on this site thats not up to your immpecable standard of foward-thinking design logic, and eye for detail.
