While many new vehicles offer only an auxiliary input jack as part of their factory audio system, the 2008 Subaru Impreza takes portable music to the next level with the debut of the company’s integrated interface of the popular Apple iPod through the vehicle’s audio system.

This seamless integration technology, available as an accessory on select models of the 2008 Subaru Impreza, allows customers to control most iPod functions through the dashboard “head unit” (and steering wheel controls if so equipped) — including text display of playlist, artist, album and song information, fast forward and rewind, and browsing by playlist, artist, album, Podcast, and Audiobook — and even charges the music player’s battery.

The ideal would be to have both a dock connector, and an aux input.

Not everyone owns or wants an iPod (brand) DAP, and many of us who prefer using other audio codecs like Ogg/Flac/Ape etc, might find this more a case of forcing the whole iPod thing than a desirable option.

Who Knows, and in a vehicle this hideous... Who Cares!
