0-62 in 6.5 seconds...30 UK mpg combined, but only 25 in the city (35 on the highway), not what I'd expect from a hybrid.
Plus a massive price tag for a Lexus, 85000 pounds plus. (More than 760 and A8 W12).

I'd get an A8 4.2 tdi, which gets better MPG and better performance.

nicad, enough with the excuses. The A8L 4.2TDI drives better, looks better, is nicer on the inside and is less expensive.

2 days in real time is 7.5 seconds.

But then again, 35 UK combined and about 39/40 Uk on the highway

Is Lexus advertising on the side of a blimp to the British peeple?

Saw one the other day just after a test drive. Driver didn't look particularly excited about it, and the vehicle itself is no great shakes from a design perspective.

"Lexus GB has confirmed orders for 230 cars to date of which over 60 per cent are for the top of the range LS 600h L"

Remind me again why Lexus will never sell in Europe?

As soon as the S hybrid arrives, they will continue NOT to sell.

It's fat, it's ugly and it has no class. And the performance is laughable. V12 performance? Please!! 0-100 in 6.5 seconds is SLOW! a 1994 BMW 740i could outrun it! And these days BMW has diesels engines with twin-turbos that make the exact same amount of horsepower! (286)

Give me an S420 CDI 4matic AMG-package over this any day! Or the facelift A8 4.2 TDI! Or even the Jag XJR.

A 1994 740i can out run it!
My dad has one!!!!

This car gets better emissions than every other car being mentioned in this thread, as well as great fuel economy with some decent performance. Note "performance" does not mean that owners will be taking this car to the track every weekend, as so many simple-minded people here always want everyone to believe.

RupertRupert - 10/2/2007 5:54:53 PM

No it doesn't.
Worse emissions than S320cdi, 730d (a 5 year old car) and A8 3.0 tdi, A8 2.8.
Better than A8 4.2 tdi yes, but not by much.

"great fuel economy with some decent performance"

No Will, that's wrong.

"Good" (for a 5 litre) fuel economy "dismal" performance.

An A8 4.2 tdi however offers "very good" fuel economy and "very good" performance.

And while 6.5 seconds isn't slow, I would expect my 5.0 hybrid to out run a 13 year old BMW with over 120 less horsepower and 13 year old technology.
And it's not even like the 600h is that much more economical...especially considering all the hybrid gubbins and its age.

I'm really getting tired of these hypocrite "emissions" comments... WHO ******* CARES????? Nobody notices it! Wether your car has 200 gr C02 or 500 gr C02... what's the point? Global ******* warming? Please don't give me that bullshit!

What do we care about? Performance! Fuel economy! Joy of driving!

Will, you are full of hypocrite ignorant marketing bullshit!

Whether you like it or not, there is a new wave of educated-on-the-environment people who realize that EMISSIONS CONTRIBUTE to the DESTRUCTION of our ENVIRONMENT!

Not at least even acknowledging that is being ignorant.

And Rupert, I want to see all those numbers.

will everyone just shut up?! if you hate lexus, fine. you can keep being a bmw/mb/audi fanboy. nobody really cares either way. personally, i like the ls. it won world car of the year award in 2007. its cool. more hi tech than lots of other cars.
it isnt for everybody. IT IS NOT A DRIVER ENTHUSIAST"S CAR!!! it wasnt meant for being a track car. it was designed to be a chauffeur driven limo. not a race car. and i couldnt care less about emissions. if i did, id buy a prius. but still, id like a Ls with a v12. that would be cool.

uh oh, here come the mb/bmw/audi fanboys coming to shoot me down...;)
