I LOVE the idea of having side mounted laser guns. They could come in handy ;)

I'd like to have a car with a hidden rear maser so i can pop the headlight filaments of any car that follows me too closely with the high beams on. I'm pretty sure a concentrated microwave maser beam would do the trick.

EL34, you are one lucky dude for having lived in CA all your life. i recall many times in the old days relaxing in the hotel pool one hour before departure from LAX saying to myself "I'm not going back. I'm not going back", yet each time I still made the flight back East.

001, your quip about L.A. being the greatest place on Earth is slightly offensive. I don't really like the people, or the houses, or the weather there. Obviously, there are people I love that live there, but there are also a lot of snobs with too much plastic surgery. Similarly, the only expensive houses are for the nouveau riche. I have yet to see a tasteful, high-end house in L.A. like my own. Finally, summer/spring all the time just gets old. Believe it or not, I actually enjoy the huge range of temperatures Chicago offers. If you don't like the weather here now (75º and sunny today), then just wait fifteen minutes and it'll change...

I said California is the best...and I stand by my comments.

Lots of other good and even great places but nowhere else hasthe total package so right.

And I've lived in Denver, Boston and Toronto.

Stop arguing about L.A. vs. Chicago -- Seattle and several other cities have both beat all to hell.

I happen to like Southern California- The weather is nice and I can go anywhere and get treated like I am god. Although I am not really a fan of L.A. proper. I like Beverly Hills, but it is a bit cliche. Malibu is okay the real estate on the beach there is throughly unspectacular.

I understand what you are saying about houses- there are truely house with character and there are houses that are poorly executed rip offs and are characterless. That is why I prefer older neighborhoods. In fact there are only a few places here in Denver that I would really want to live in. 001 would proarbly be familiar with these. Greenwood Village (its okay- I just like that the houses aren't crammed together), The Polo Grounds, and probably the best address in Denver (IMO)- Sunset Drive. Unfortunatly, I only know of one house for sale on Sunset, it is new (they must have demolished something to build it there) ugly, a REALLY bad imatation of a tuscan villa, and $20 million- not going to happen.

That's why I like London - all the great houses are like 100 years old. I love the Arts & Crafts style stuff in Kensington plus of course the Belgravia Townhouses...even the normal houses look great.

Today it's 18 degrees C and sunny...but it was raining loads for the last week...
