I'd say new LR3. NOT the GX470! That 'SUV' looks like an agro-cultural tractor with a shiny grille. Not particulary good on road, and only the wood in the cabin lightens up an otherwise dingy and intustrial interior. VW's offering is good too, but I recall it being launched last year.

Who can argue with a SuperCharged 5.4l That can go anywhere in a hurry.

As far as pratical SUV's I would also second the GX470.

I went to the lexus taste of luxury event, and drove just about every high end suv out there, and none of them performed as well as the lexus off road (maybe the RR, but it made some wierd noises).

Obviously someone who knows next to nothing. The day a fx45 outbrakes and outhandles a Porsche Cayenne S is the day i'll stop loving cars. The day a much-praised Porsche SUV whose turbo-charged brother can set the same lap time as an EVO-7 is beaten in terms of chassis balance and handling by a odd looking Infiniti is a day I can't ever see happening.

And Porsche's garbage reliability record? C'mon, get a grip. Stop listening so much to your Infiniti salesman.
