Torque steer and front wheel hop would keep the driver from stoplight racing it. AWD is a must.

Mazda is trying to create the Understeer Champion of the World.

There is a magic number for FWD (I'm talking to you Mazda). It's 300. The closer you get to this number the worse your car performs on a course.

This car actually handles torque steer very well. Go test one.

that doesnt make sense...i meant to say the torque steer is minimal, and if you're gripping the steering wheel the way you should be, you wont lose control.

You can't effectively run that much power through the front wheels and expect a low 0-60 time. You're contending with torque steer and a weight transfer issue, which helps induce wheel hop or loss of traction.

I believe I would qualify as an individual who is well aquainted with TQ steer.

I race an 04 Spec V.

I specifically didnt add anything to the engine (save for minor modifications such as cams and exhaust and intake, etc...) becuase of the issue of TQ steer.

I have no dobut Mazda has thrown everything they can at the chassis, diff and transmission to ensure TQ steer is kept at a minimum, however physics eventually catches up. My car with 175 hp and 182 lb/ft (actually a little more now) has a ton of TQ steer, I can't imagine an extra 110hp and 140lb/ft of power in my car and trying to take it around a track. Maybe a long course like Laguna might do well with it, however a short course or autocross that most compact cars run, would be a nightmare. And just to tell you I'm not against Mazda, I bought my wife an 07 Galaxy Grey CX-7. That CUV is awsome.

Hi guys, Hafeni here. I am in Namibia in southern africa and i own one. The car is sweet!!! I can see the argument and it is a very fair one, but rest assured the zoom-zoom gang have really done a good job in controlling that steer! If you hold the wheel right, you wont even know its there, a great job done there indeed.

Trouble on my model however is gear ratios, before hitting 100km/h i have to shift into 3rd which obviously has a MAJOR effect on ones sprint time! The cars down under are packing some really nice heat, 210kw and 425nm, WOW, mine has 190kw and 380nm, and even so it has caused a few surprises for some fellas who have forked out 100K more than me:-)!
Ran a stock '08 Audi S3 with the Mps, as the light goes green, i am instantly half a car ahead, 2nd i open to full car, 3rd im now almost 2 car lengths ahead, into 4th and remainder of fifth i maintain a two car gap maybe a tad bit more, into 6th and the S3 starts coming up as the speed climbs beyond 220km/h!

Looking forward to the new mps, comes end of this year posting the same figures, what has however changed (apart from styling and added goodies) are the ratios; 2nd gear now offers a wonderful 110km/h, imagine what that is going to do to the 0-100km/h sprint time now, let alone the top end:-) Currently run 254km/h at 6000rpm on the gps, meaning that with the extra "space" on the box and gears, i could get an additional 12-16km/h(266-270km/h) if not more, which will do fine by me:-)
Think maybe i'll wait and see what figures your models are posting and maybe, just maybe i can get myself one down under:-)
