Toyota Fall Short Of Sales Targets In Japan

Company president Katsuaki Watanabe said domestic sales were likely to drop to about 1.65 million, or 4 per cent below its target of 1.72 million for the year.

Toyota's downbeat view of its Japanese sales prospects underscores the tough environment that even global car makers face in their home markets.

Vehicle sales this year are expected to be lower in the US and flat at best in western Europe.

Toyota does not expect its domestic downturn to affect overall group sales this year, which are forecast to hit 9.34 million, lifting the group to the top global spot ahead of General Motors.

Where did this come from? All those revenues are cumulative.

Exciting cars! Desirable cars! Cars that do more than haul you from point A to point B! NOT Toyotas!

Aston Martin, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, Bentley... even BMW, Audi, Lexus, Mercedes-Benz and the rest could be considered to be the best cars in the world. But not Toyota. Not Honda. Not Chevy. I could go on.

VW is pretty cheap considering they can't keep their cars running. I know a cars aren't good investments typically(unless it doesn't nickel and dime u) but a VW is a bad investment. For the amount they charge for their cars, why can't they build a reliable one?

Desirability is purely subjective. Toyota is OK but it all depends on your socio-economic class. Most in the world, 60-70%, don't even know what an Aston is or ever care to own a Carerra GT. For the masses, a Corolla S will suffice. They dream of owning a Civic Si or Chrysler 300. Whose to judge?

And it's the masses that keep the auto world moving. They're the ones spending the most money as a whole on repairing and buying their Tauruses and Accords. That's why Toyota, Honda, Mazda, Subaru, Kia, Hyundai, GM, Ford and Chrysler exist.

Most people can't drive a Kia Spectra let alone an AMG or M.
