I find most of the comments about this car pretty funny considering most of you may never have the means to own one. The RS4 is expected to replace the S4 sometime next year. The current "New" S4 will have a very short production life. The RS4 is expected to develop somewhere near 425hp with a normally aspirated 4.2L V8. The tail lights have been blacked out in the photos so who knows what they are going to look like in production trim. I agree with "Mike" regarding whether this is an RS4 or not. I think he is dead on correct in stating that it's an ABT S4. As far as pricing goes, Audi will most likely keep the price just under that of an M3. Has anyone seen the sticker price on the new M3 yet? I didn't think so. Keep in mind that many of the engineers and sales executives that have been working for Audi for the past five years come strait from BMW. They know every product on BMW's upcoming calender for the next 10 years. By the way, they are also the same people that designed and built your beloved 3,5, and 7 series of the past. There is also talk that this car could debut the upcoming 5th generation quattro system that will have a little more rear wheel drive bias. Gee, I wonder where they got that idea? Note, this engine will be normally aspirated. BMW powertrain engineers hate turbocharging and or supercharging. This is a display of talent aimed directly at the M division. These guys have the passion, the talent, and the money to get things done. There is nothing more satifying to an automotive engineer than to show up your former employer with a product that will blow its doors off both on the street and in the showroom.

This shares nothing visual with the Jetta. The Jetta is a booted Golf. This is an A4.

Kids tend to have great imaginations. Next time you look at your dad's Jetta in the driveway, you can pretend that it looks like this car or dream that it produces 425hp through a 6 speed manual transmission and quattro all wheel drive. The closest you will get to this car is walking up to it on a showroom. Maybe by the time you graduate college Audi will have made the RSQ a reality.

I can give you a pretty good idea of how they are going to produce that kind of horsepower out of that engine. The main ingrediant will probably be FSI. FSI is good for at least 50hp on an engine that size. Compression will probably be somewhere in the neighborhood of 12.5:1. The rest will be accomplished by the usual hot rod methods such as exhaust, valves, heads, etc.

That big nose in all black is the way to go :-)
