I had both for quite some time, but ultimately, XM won out with its larger model selection (especially of hand-held/portables), and absence of Howard Stern!

I could care less which is better. If i can't get it free I won't subscribe to it anyway.

The two are very similar... Much depends on the individuals taste in music, and sports preference... I don't necesssarily think one is "better" than the other...

EXCEPT FOR THE FACT THAT ONE HAS HOWARD STERN ON IT!!!!

Love him or hate him, he is very pervasive. For those that love him there is really no substitute. I personally love him so I either convert, or add Sirius to my vehicles...

Other than that Sirius has more uncensored music... I think only kids really feel the need to hear the work fcuk every other verse though...

I have had XM in rental carsbut I have Sirius in my car. I personally think that XM seems to have more and better stations but at the same time Sirius has the Foxxhole and a few other stations that I like. Satellite radio wouldn't sway my car buying decisions though. I can either take it or leave it.
The only reason I have it now is because it came with the car.

LOL, I agree. It came with the S4 but for some reason it just stopped working after a month--not the whole radio, but just Sirius.

Then, no joke, a woman from Sirius called me last month to tell me my account was active and I owed them some ridiculous amount of money. This is over two years after the damn thing stopped working. Of course, I got out of it... but it's still strange.

I have had both and I found XM to have a better arrangement and somehow more different music choices, which I liked. If I bought a car where I would get a choice, in the other two I did not, I would pick XM.

They are merging very soon, as I heard from a representative when I canceled my service because I sold my car, so Does it matter?

"merging" meaning their services.

Yeah, I canceled XM service in July, but she did say that it would happen beginning of next year. I don't know really, its a speculation since the announcement came 8 months ago.

Your point, 8ter?

They are merging pending congressional approval. The fear is that they will have a "monopoly" on the market. The reality is that both are losing money and the medium may be defunct without a "merger". It's about 6 months away at the least though...
