Commentary: Jag's Incomplete S-Type

There's nothing wrong with retro per se. Retro done right makes for retro chic design which translates to robust sales. What we have had at Jaguar Cars is retro on the fly. The car's design simply was not thought through.

Having been in the American market for a long time Jaguar should have been taking notes. Americans like room in a car, especially rear seat and head room. I agree that the retro design could have been done better but had the quality and room been up to scratch Jaguar would have been more successful with the S type.

I'm SICK OF THIS. Jaguar is one of the most RELIABLE LUXURY BRANDS available right now according to JD Power. They may even edge ahead of Lexus. People are so ignorant.

And if you've ever sat in the rear seat of a Lexus GS or IS, you'd know the definition of "cramped."

Who actually cares about JD power and assoc.??? It ranks INITIAL QUALITY. Who cares about repairs when something is under warranty?? The better question is how reliable is the vehicle when the warranty is off and I have to pay out of pcket for repairs. Thats when those many of those brands that performed well in just the first 3 months will fade! Didnt Hyuandai make the top of this list one year??? Get real! That JD initial quality award is garbage. Show me how it all boils down off warranty or even at and over 100,000 miles.

S4 what are you smoking Jaguars rating are horrible especially the S-type. They are high maintanace cars that the back and fronts don't know if they are coming or going especially on the S-type. The only thing decent about them is the headlights and the interior quality other than the wood is suspect.

I like how you said "especially the S-type" twice. We KNOW. The S-Type is a piece of crap. But it's about to be replaced. What I was referring to was the XJ. It has been as reliable as the Lexus LS430 overall, and easily beats the last-gen Lexus in style, luxury and performance. I'd say it's still better in style and performance--if a bit behind in technology features.

This coming from a car salesman of a different marque- I'm SO surprised.

Truly, I am just befuddled with shock.

As someone who OWNS one, I happen to know the truth. They are not high maintenance. My car is maintained, as per the recommendation, once every 5,000 miles.

The wood is suspect? Have you ever been in a Jaguar? I have been in Acuras and I can say that if Jaguar wood is suspect, than Acura must use Balsa wood.

Actually, mikey said everything OTHER than the wood is suspect... but I still disagree.
