Toyota iQ to get Yamaha motorcycle engine

The production version of Toyota’s iQ Concept is likely to be the first of a wave of new minicars being developed by several mainstream carmakers the likes of which include Volkswagen, BMW and GM. Beating its rivals is no easy task so to help speed up development Toyota is rumoured to be working with Yamaha on the design of a new 1.0L engine derived from a motorcycle powerplant that could eventually power the minicar.
