Jaguar XF sales begin March 1 - Dealers say demand is strong
One of the most anticipated models of the year, the Jaguar XF (to some) is everything they expected it would be. Many see the XF as the only thing that will keep the car on its legs after it gets sold off by Ford. The car, which makes its official U.S. debut at the LA Auto Show next month while sales are scheduled to begin March 1st.

But dealers are saying that interested buyers better hurry in to get their name on the waiting list because there is already a back up until May.

“It’s the blossom we’ve been waiting...

Jag needs this car bad!!!!!!!.Jaguar designs up to this point are simply boreing unimaginative and lame, not to mention the very poor quality.Hopefully this model will be a success and make jaguar designers realize that they need modern sleek designs, not the old farty designs that only appeal to guys 65 and older lol......we will see though ?

Yes Jaguar does need this car to hit the home run. But your comments are a bit unfair to the gone by jaguars. Certainly they used to have quality issues, but for the last couple of years jaguar ranked among the best companies for initial quality rankings by JD power. And to call the previous generation jaguar designs "lame and unimaginative" is simply outrageous. These jaguars may have been retro in design, but simply they were in a class very distinctinve and obviously if you have ever seen a jaguar they also used some of the most striking and complex design elements ever used in a car. I mean the surfacing, the curves, the swoops, and the lines, the overall 3d structure would be befitting to be the work of a prominent sculpture artist. But the problem was that today's buyers don't value such attributes, they want performance, and probably that is where jaguar failed. But the XF seems to be heading in the right directions, combining grace of jaguar design with modern technologies and performance.

"the overall 3d structure would be befitting to be the work of a prominent sculpture artist."

So true. The only car on permanent exhibition at the MoMA is a Jaguar E-Type.

Given what he has said, I doubt he has ever even seen a Jaguar. I think you hit it on the head, in that for some reason people no longer value the aesthetic. I think it is a shame- I am young (24) and I AM and aesthete- I love beautiful things. I am afraid however, that I am in the minority. Shame really.

People need to get the facts straight. Jaguar cars gained a reputation for unreliability during the 1970s and 1980s, but under Ford the reliability and build quality improved dramatically, with the company coming 7th (out of 30) in the J. D. Power Customer Satisfaction Survey, and the S-Type coming 9th out of 105 cars in the same survey. In the 2003 Top Gear Survey, the XJ model came first. Also, in 2007, another survey by J.D. Power & Associates showed Jaguar to be the number one car company in customer satisfaction; scoring the highest ratings ever recorded.

Their problem is not quality, it's styling. If they can make a dynamic looking car to match the quality, they will be able to finally make money. I hope Ford is smart and doesn't sell them off just yet.

Ford is comitted to selling Jaguar within 2 months. Jaguar has improved it's quality under Ford which it needed to do. Unfortunately there were some bad marketing decisions done. I don't know if this came from Ford or from Jaguar or both. Mistake #1. Staying with retro design and not alocating suficient room for American drivers. The XJ is the only 4dr sedan that has decent room in it. I've sat in an S type and X Type. Both are very short on rear head and leg room.My guess is that this came from Jaguar. They were afraid they would lose customers if they did not continue the traditional Jaguar retro theme. In addition the interiors of those 1st vehicles were so sub par with cheap plastics compared to the XJ.RESULT-Jaguar ended up losing those customers anyway. BMW was a better driving car and any Audi had a much nicer interior with better room and higher quality materials.Mistake #2. Having designed the X type from the Ford Mondeo/Mercury Contour. If you recall the Mondeo/Contour did not sell all that well do to lack of rear seat room. So Jaguar simply rebodies it and thinks people will buy it. This turned out to be a cheap solution to compete with the 3 series BMW,Audi A4 and the C Class Mercedes. The only trump card Jaguar had was the standard AWD. This was Fords screw up I'm sure. Now Jaguar is finally doing the right thing with agressive styling and insisting on decent room for their car.If they had only come to this conclusion 7 or 8 yrs ago Jaguar would be a serious player now. I hope the new owners get it.
