More info: BMW X1 coming in 2011 with three-doors?

Dear BMW,

So many cars we've been through together, and you know I truly enjoy my current E54/E46, but...

I can't help but feel that you're loosing your way.

First it was with vehicle designs lacking that Teutonic 'sense of purpose' that I found so appealing, only to be replaced with silly slashes on their sides (flame surfacing', and trunks that looked like complete stylistic after-thoughts.

Now all these ridiculous SAVs.

Yes, my X5 4.8is has serve me 9somewhat) well, despite my constantly having to replace window regulators, brakes/rotors etc., but how many of these utility vehicles does an alleged performance car maker need?

I'm trying not to lose faith in you, but with this silly X1, things don't look very promising.

We at BMW thank you for your support. As a company in business to make profits, you should know that we have earned more from you when we sold you the X5 than when we sold you the E46. We intend to further our product range to compete globally, and the X1 will be positioned nicely for markets where large vehicles simply do not sell in large numbers. We assume that your next new vehicle will be a larger model, and we recommend a new M5 to soothe any concerns you have about us losing our direction.

And yes, by popular vote, Bangle is being reigned in. Against the sultry designs from Aston Martin, Audi, Mercedes, and even Lexus, we know that we could not continue allowing him to offend our core customers with highly polarized styling. We will try to do better.
