Chrysler dropping 5 models

Thats the thing with American companies, they never form any brand equity when the names of their products are always changing. But I guess you would change names if your cars were plagued with bad perceptions. Accord, Altima, and Camry have been around for over 15 years along with the Civic, Corolla, and Sentra.

If I were to bet on any American car company folding..it would be Chrysler.

and on that note i never understood why american companies in the past, just drop a model complain its not selling, its now the customer wants, instead of actually taking the time to make it competitive, or got it right the first time. Blame the product if its not competitive, Chrysler has yet to fix its poor interior quality, or start creating cars that are competing wiht someone else other than ford

Completely True-- The Accord, Altima and Camry are cars that people want, and have good reputations. Chrysler is continueously having to reinvent itself and it's products because people feel no loyalty to mediocrity.

I don't think there going to fold. However I think they are going to be a very lean company very quickly.Chrysler basic broplem right now is styling and product.The Sebring name has been around a while.However Chrysler blew it with the styling. The Durango has had reliability problems for quite some time and over laps Jeep products. When you think about it GM dropped Olds and is consolidating Buick and Pontiac.It's not such a bad move in the long run.The Compass should never have seen the light of day in the 1st place with its ultra cheapo interior and being essentialy a rebodied Caliber.

The Compass is also hideously ugly.

If anyone needs to drop some products in the Chrysler group right now, it's Jeep. Too many models, too slow sales, and they all came at the same time. Who really knows the difference between a Patriot, Liberty and Compass (besides for the Compass being uglier)?

IMO the Cherokee (BRING IT BACK!), Wrangler, GC and Commander are all they need.

Why isn't the Aspen on the list of possible dropouts???

I'm thinking that they feel that there's more money to be made by offing only the more expensive Chrysler version of this platform, than by splitting sales between both Chrysler and (less profitable) Dodge version.

What happens, is they run the name-plates into the ground by making them increasingly uglier/less-competitive with each redesign (think Chrysler Sebring... Dodge Dakota), that it would almost spell instant failure for any vehicle using said nameplate.

Chrysler is in such a downward spiral, that sometimes I wish they'd just throw in the towel.

PT crusier case in point, make it better lot of PT's running around instead they will drop the car in 09' never could get these American car companies?

Chrysler is in dire need of something... ANYTHING. Their models are crap. And there are too many of them, so this is a smart move.

But what made them think they could use the same super-cheap interior models for the ENTIRE Chrysler Group and get away with it? I just can't comprehend. Were they trying to make profits? Because for that, you need GOOD CARS that people WANT. The latest Chrysler vehicles just... aren't.

Vehicles that I think should be dropped or completely redesigned:

• Dodge Caliber (redesign)
• Chrysler Crossfire (drop)
• Chrysler PT Cruiser (redesign)
• Dodge Journey (drop)
• Chrysler Pacifica (redesign)
• Jeep Compass (KILL)
• Dodge Nitro (too close to Jeep, drop)
• Jeep Patriot (redesign, with a real interior, please)
• Dodge Avenger (redesign)
• Chrysler Sebring (redesign)
• Jeep Liberty (yes, the new one--redesign)
• Dodge Ram (redesign)
• Chrysler Aspen/Dodge Durango (drop Aspen, re-do Durango)

Models that can stay the same:

• Jeep Wrangler
• Dodge Charger/Magnum
• Chrysler 300
• Dodge Caravan/Chrysler T&C
• Jeep GC
• Jeep Commander

Anything that I didn't mention falls into the "refresh" category.
