Ford Focus leads personalized line-up at SEMA
Small is big in the U.S. auto industry – and Ford is working to make small cars even bigger among customers with nine personalized 2008 Ford Focus models set to roll out at this month’s Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show.

“The small car market is now the largest vehicle segment in the country with more than 2.7 million sales annually,” says Al Giombetti, executive director of Ford’s Customer Service division. “We want to signal that we have what it takes to help small-car buyers make a big statement in their vehicles. That’s why we’re offering a full spectrum of personalization options ranging from full-body kits and wheels to audio systems and racing parts for under the hood.”

I've seen the 2008 running around Vegas testing for months now, and even though I know it's running on (near) decade old gear, it does look rather pleasant, and the sedan has quite a few Mondeo styling cues.

For the average buyer on a budget, I think it'll do fine.

Nice to see SEMA embrace it.

Please, just let it die... they added a few tacky details to the design that just act as gimmicks. The result? Still tacky. BRING US THE EURO VERSION!

Hope they can fix it.

These aftermarket upgrades might be the only redeeming factor for this turd. The engine options are pathetic.

There are no engine "options--" there's one OPTION. And it's terrible. It goes even worse than these cars look.

I know of the 2.0 PZEV motor, but I swear there was a stronger engine option, still weak at best.

This car looks more plasticy than ever. It is quite tacky and overdone to try and make it look "cool". Shiney chrome front? Plastic fender vents? Clear lens tail lamps? And a plastic silver painted inteior lifted from a TV manufacturer's supply bin.

This vehicle does little to improve Ford's image and commitment in the North American market. It is a poor reskin of a model that has already been redesigned in the rest of the world.
