Tokyo Preview: Audi Metroproject Quattro Concept

Tokyo Preview: Audi Metroproject Quattro Concept
We no longer have to pay for expensive spy shots or photo renderings. Here are the first official photos of the Audi Metroproject Quattro Concept which is said to be the first version of the upcoming Audi A1 minicar. As you can see from the pictures the Audi A1 will be an aggressive looking little beast.

Inside the Audi Metroproject Quattro concept has a battery pack mounted behind the rear passengers, indicating that this is definitely a hybrid. Plug-in or not, we’ll find out next week at the Tokyo Auto Show...

My wife wants a small SUV. So, for me, it will depend on ground clearance and how high the front seats are for ease of entry. If this "Quattro" does not have the Torsen differential, I don't want it.

Wow! Looks much better than I though it would. The exterior is definitely production-ready; if they marketed it like a cheap TT (style icon) it would sell like mad. The interior looks awesome, too... love the music interface- looks like an iPhone. The side profile is its best view. Huge wheel arches!

This will certainly do damage to the MINI and Fiat 500...

A lot better than the last concept, but without the chrome, it's just rolling Valium.

I must say, this looks amazing, bring here to the Us and I'll get one immediatly. What a cool looking car, much better than the Mini, as cool as the Fiat 500 but more aggressive. This is a winner, and of course the interior is fantastic, love it.

The grill is overdone and there is no room for this car in Audis lineup.

What on earth is that???

Audi should know better than this! The SFG grill works great on big cars like the A6, A8 and Q7 but it looks out of place on the A1 concept!

After the the average Q7, stunning R8 (although it looks a bit unbalanced from the side), even more stunning TT and beautiful A5 they come up with this??

I am very dissapointed!

hey, I think it looks great. Do not forget you always get a filler (license plate holder) as a black/dark line over the grille, so the grille won't look that big and empty anymore. every single audi is presented with the empty grill, but when sold you also get the black line over it.

Look past the grille--it's a beautifully surfaced and proportioned small car.

how is this different than a A3, Audi looks a little desperate, not only copying BMW's but Mini as well.

It's smaller than the A3 and DOESN'T COPY BMW. If they made a great market segment (MINI), why not enter? What do you think BMW has done with all of their AWD sedans and their rumored sports car? Those are concepts spurred by Audi vehicles.

uh, s4 AUDI did not invent ALL WHEEL DRIVE, and they certaingly didnt invent the sports car. Wrong or not it is clear BMW is not chasing AUDI, they have bigger sights in mind. let me guess the 335i was also a copy of an AUDI, since it has turbos right? and the 3 series wagon is clearly copying BMW with those AUDI avant models......comeon lets get serious...AUDI is playing monkey see monkey do, except this looks alot like a lancia ypsilon a odd garish version that is. For the record the M1 was done way before the R8 was.

Why does Audi have to copy BMW all the Time, The R8 the concept and idea came from BMW's M1, this car imitation Mini, but why this is Volkwagen territory I know it is a Rebadged VW, if you audi fans are happy then fine. All those years of VW beelte and rabbit and now that BMW has Mini lets rebadge a vw polo what is the Audi strategy? Copy BMW

If you really think Audi's idea for the R8 came from a thirty-year-old BMW then you have problems.

The Audi strategy is copy BMW, just like Mercedes and then improve on BMW's design.

BMW's strategy is to pioneer the concepts and let them sit idle until competitors surpass them such as i-Drive getting trumped by COMAND and MMI, the 7-series interior which was clearly surpassed by the Mercedes S-class and is going to be blown away by the upcoming Audi A8.

the command system came out before i drive actually, the new version of the system was more like i drive, but the command system itself has been out for years.....not just that its kinda odd your comparing how much cars that are being released as 07, and what 09's to a car that came out in 02, and saying the surpassed BMW...if in 5-7 years you cant find some way to get more technology in a car something is wrong. the S class interior shares alot of similarities with the 7, the steering wheel mounted shifter, the controller, and th overall shape of the dash were obviously BMW inspired. no matter how much people her trash the 7's looks it has sold alot better than the last conservative model, so it was a sucess, and mercedes clearly saw that. so in making the s class they stepped away from conservative

I can agree with that Germannut, at least you can admit it, most competiors do copy one another, but copy Mini , This a VW type product, I thought Audi is has more than this prestige, i know BMW is coming out with a similar car I veto that idea also.
