Honda developing 180hp Civic Type-R

Honda’s Civic range is currently available with a diesel engine in some markets, developing a reasonable 140hp and 340Nm of torque from its 2.2L of displacement, but rivals like the VW Golf, Renault Megane and Toyota Auris models are available with diesel mills with around 170hp. To catch up Honda is considering adding the more powerful 2.2L CTDi engine from the Accord range to the Civic hatch.

The headline is a little misleading, because the article is about Honda using a 180hp *diesel* engine for the Type R. The petrol variant produces 200hp.

One be be inclined to believe, from the headline, that the Type-R is being de-tuned.

I wonder how much power can be sqeezed out of the diesel by adding a supercharger.
