New video: Bmw 135i

M3 Performance for the masses. And even better fuel economy. WOW. I am truly excited to get my hands on one of these puppies for a test drive. Sure its a little plain on the interior which doesnt say much but hey, it is the ultimate driving machine.

I cant imagine what would happen if they actually chipped this thing...

Infiniti is building one in this space too. It will probably have the 3.7l engine. I can't wait to see them compete a la G37 vs 335i coupe

Can't wait to see the reviews. Although its not that much lighter than the 335i, so I doubt the performance will be that much greater. For a small car the 1-series really has a great chassis to handle all that power.

Even if it's "only" 90lbs lighter, it will still be an amazing performer, and it will still perform better than the 335i, for less money--though not significantly less. That's good enough for me.

BTW, 43LE, you should also consider the 335i coupe before deciding. They will be very close in price and performance... 335i is IMO sexier looking, and also offers more practicality and luxury, but the 135i will be better if you don't use the rear seat much.

has any type of pricing been released? the 335i coupestarts at $40.8k before any options...

the 125i coupe should really and truly start under $35k, IMO...we can only hope!

rumor is that the 135i will be pricey...high 30's. and that the majority sold will be the 128i which will start under 30.

word is the base 128i coupe to be est. $28k while a base 135i coupe to be at $33k which is the nearly same cost as the former e46 325i & 330i sedans.

The 128i convertible will start at $40K, actually. There is no way the base coupe will be under $30K if the convertible is at that price. I'm guessing $35K for a 128i coupe.

If this is only marginally lighter than the 335i, shouldn't it be slightly quicker and (only) a little more fuel efficient,instead of slower and much more fuel efficient?

Something's not quite adding up here... I'm curious to see some actual test results.

BMW purposely understates performance statistics so that when it's cars are independently tested by automags, and the Bimmer is hailed as the winner and praised for the car's being able to perform better than the manufacturer projected, BMW will have more clout in their respective category....BMW knows what the car is capable of; this is just a bs business tactic to increase the influence of the brand.

I'm well aware of BMW's understating the performance numbers of its vehicles, after all I do own both an E46/M3 and an E54/4.8is, I'm just a bit skeptical of those fuel economy numbers.

Porsche and Audi do it too. It seems to work fairly well. When the B6 S4 came out, Audi said it accelerated from 0-60 in 5.6 sec; when most magazines were getting it more round 5.0 sec, they changed it to 5.3, but it was still a bit off. As for Porsche, they say the C4S manages 4.8 or something; Road & Track got 4.1.
