REVIEW: Aston Martin DBS- the Most Beautiful Car of Our Time?
Low, sleek and yet self-consciously aggressive, the 2008 Aston Martin DBS is the ultimate expression of the contemporary Aston Martin.

With the farewell to the hand-built Vanquish last summer, the DBS has become the corporate face of a newly independent Aston Martin. Sold earlier this year by its former parent Ford to an investment group fronted by David Richards, the chief executive of Prodrive, Aston Martin will now have to make its own way in a world where Audi, Ferrari, Mercedes-Benz and a clutch of small independent companies are all fighting for the attention of the new group of millionaires across the globe.

Unlike some, I think the DB9 body is the most beautiful Aston, and the most beautiful car on the road (better than the V8 Vantage). The DBS just takes it to the next level. The attention to detail inside and out, and the finished product, is simply stunning. There's no one word to describe it.

I'll right, I love the 8C but I just like the DBS more. Perhaps that will change when I see the Alfa... but for now, the DB9/DBS is the most beautiful car ON THE ROAD.

I happen to think the DB9 is the most beautiful car on the road as well. The DB9 has the advantage of being a visually simple car. Simplicity is a fundamental property of beauty. You may think that such is just my opinion, but I assure you it is true.

Studies have been performed on perception of human faces, and the easier it is to distill a face to elemental forms, the more beautiful it is. The corollary to this is that the object must be free of superfluous ornamentation. The DBS is simply not- I truly do not view it an inherently beautiful. The DB9 however is.

I do have one thing with the DB9 that I think could be modified to be more beautiful, and I think this is the only place where the similar XK has an aesthetic advantage- the form of the side windows. The form of the XK window is absolute perfection. The DB9 was a break the the side window form - the only fault I find in it, and one that is frankly easily overlooked.

I completely agree. The DB9 is more simply elegant and beautiful than the DBS, and all other sports cars. But the DBS is a more aggressive form of that beauty, which I love. It doesn't look contrived.

The XK is also gorgeous, but it can't quite stand up to the Astons. Too much surfacing.

no doubt, its definetly a gorgeous ride. I cant think of anything that looks better than that, not even the Alfa 8C- which by the way is a great looking car too, this is just spectacular!!

No. Sure it is mightly good-looking but it's not quite the best Aston Martin has given us. To me, the DB7 V12 Vantage is still BY FAR the best looking Aston. Probably the best looking car of all time.

Some people have their own opinions... IMO the DB9 takes the DB7's style to the next level, and adds in more sex appeal and it's obviously more modern. I prefer it.
