$2500 Nissan to be sold in the US and Europe

An ultra low-cost minicar Nissan is developing for emerging markets could eventually be sold in the U.S. according to people close to the project in India. The new car will cost about $2,500 when it goes on sale in India around 2010 and if CEO Carlos Ghosn has his way it will be launched in global markets soon after.

“The big question is: Can you have this car outside of India?” Ghosn explained to reporters at this week’s Tokyo Motor Show. Some of the other countries Nissan is considering include the U.S.,Canada, Europe and Japan.

WOW! at $2,500 one can buy one every year, drive the s _ _ t out of it and simply throw it away. I wonder how much recycling fee Alberta would charge under that scenario.

it's being farmed out to an indian MOTORCYCLE mfgr.

so what, will it have a 200cc engine?

it'll likely have a bigger engine. but even if it did, it'll STILL easily outclass the late '50s BMW Isetta, with it's 150cc bmw one-lung engine!
