I'd like to know if the suspension will be updated. If it's no suspension upgrades, probably better to just purchase Procede when it comes out for the 135i.

Audi is fully loaded and planing to release so much new vechicles, A5/S5, RS5, Audi R8 and Audi R8 V10.

Lexus is coming out with their F performance division, and MB C63 AMG.

It won't hurt the 3 series sedan too much....maybe the 3 series coupe. This won't be too big a seller for the average consumer. I don't know if you've ever owned a small 2 door coupe, but as much fun as they are, there's nothing practical about them. Most people who buy this car will more than likely already have another vehicle that they use on a regular basis for doing all of the "hauling".

How is it a bad move? None of their competitors have anything to compete with this. This car will appeal to a younger demographic than the 335i and M3, and if those people get hooked on BMW now, they'll likely buy more BMW's down the line.

this is a brilliant move! there are no real competitors to the 1-series. it will be a brilliant performer. and it will appeal to an even younger demographic who has no need for four doors.

the 1-series will sell like mad. and the 3-series will continue to sell well around the world in all its forms...sedan, coupe, wagon and convertible.

But my point was that this 1-Series tii is getting 340hp that 34hp than the BMW 3 Series 335i. Imagine how the BMW 335i owner feel, when this 1 Series tii fly past them when they're with their girlfriend? Not a good thing my friend.

I mean, that's like comparing a new A4 3.2 (265hp) to the S3 (265hp). Of course the S3 will be faster! The A4 owner knew that when they bought it!

And BTW, the tii will most likely be more expensive than the 335i, so it had better be faster.

speed isn't everything. many brands have less expensive cars that faster but smaller and less luxurious.

The IS350, when fully loaded is around $37k, the GS460 fully loaded cost way more, like $55k or something.

This 1 Series tii, cost as much or more than the BMW 335i and had more horse power.

And the IS-F will be around $60,000, so it's smaller than the GS460 yet faster, just like this tii will cost more than the 335i, is smaller and also faster. This isn't anything new, car companies have been doing this for years.

I don't want you guys to misunderstand me, all I'm saying is that the BMW 1 Series shouldn't out run the 3 Series. Because after all, it is BMW bread and butter.

the 1 series has been out in australia for almost 2 years know, and it hasnt killed sales from the 3 series. its in the little pocket rocket segment

it seems to me that BMW is a bit desperate to be in the spotlight at par with Audi. I do not intend to start a flaming war with BMW fans here. I see that BMW came out with an incredible value car in the 335i and now they may top that with the 1-series. I wonder if they are really making money on these cars at all or is this the only way they can take away from the media buzz surrounding the latest Audis which are really taking off (starting with the Q7, then the R8 and now the S5...plus future plans of equally impressive cars such as the RS6, new A4, TT-S, Q5, A7 and A1). Another fact that may support my case is that BMW lacks the funds to introduce as many models as Audi in the coming years. I will have to wait and see how the profit margin numbers come out in the coming years comparing BMW to Audi's. Audi's PM has certainly been going upward very close to BMWs, but BMWs may be suffering and heading the other direction.

um, i think you have the brands reversed in that sentence. though audi are nice, most of them just don't compare to their bmw and mercedes competitors.

None of those Audi cars compete with this, I don't get your logic, Audi are going after BMW, not the other way around.

Hmm. That's hard. It depends on what you're looking for. The tii will be more expensive, lighter and more focused, but the S3 is more stylish, can outrun many more expensive cars and can take you through any bad weather. A white S3 appeals to me. I still don't love the 1 Series styling.
