The first official pics of the 2006 Corvette Z06?

I've never been a Corvette or a Chevy fan. But I must admit the Z06 pics look damn good. I especially like that black.

PS-No straight red blooded american male would buy that ice blue color on a Z06 Vette.

Before buying my 05 Carrera S I did consider waiting to see the Z06 as I don't drive that often and did consider saving the money .
I went to the Chevy dealership to look at the current model on the same day that I went to the launch of the 997 . I do think that chevy has a great car but it still lacks some of the refinement of the Porsche . In my opinion the Porsche is the better car but the Chevy is the better value .
I also feel that the Corvette ought to be it's own entity --seperate from the other Chevrolets . The dealership experience was such a contrast --where I was greeted at Porsche with well dressed non pressure customer service folks who offered me coffee as compared to an auto sales "shark" who looked like he was hungover with his "Chevrolet" shirt out , his belly hanging over his belt , and a cigarette hanging out of his mouth as he has the nerve to request 15K "over sticker" for an automatic vette .
Of course this was just an isolated contrast example and in no way does it detract from the quality of the car but I do feel that there still is room for improvement . I did not care for the scooping fenders or the interior .It catches my attention but never enough to buy one . That even includes now.

yrralis1 - I agree that the Corvette should be a product apart from other GM offerings. I believe the Corvette is maturing into something that should not be included with GMs other cars. As for your sales experience...you may have embellished a little but I can see your point and you are right. When I take my car to Lexus for service...they make you feel right at home...flat screen TV...coffee, donuts and muffins from a bakery nearby. Basically what I'm saying is that the same experience you had with buying your Porsche...should be the same when buying the Corvette.

If that's really what the new Z06 will look like in black...then I'm sold. I'll even get to wear my Darth Vader costume when I go to pick it up. I can't wait.

Jason - Believe it or not there are actually professionals out there that know how to handle a Corvette buyer. You may have to do some searching around. Don't let the experience you had sway you from Corvette ownership...instead just take your business elsewhere...but before you do that you should let the dealer know why he is loosing your business and then watch him grovel :=)
